Glen Eira votes unaminously to retain aquatic facilities in Carnegie‏

At Tuesday nights council meeting I moved an amendment to item 9.8 - a report on GESAC (glen eira sports and aquatic centre-bentleigh) progress and recent attendance figures at Carnegie Pool-

that council

a- continue to operate Carnegie Pool

b- is committed to retaining aquatic facilities at this site

c-undertake research and community consultation once GESAC is operating

Pleased to report that this was voted for unaminously.

An important step forward!

  1. This is a big relief to know that there is a general commitment to retaining the Carnegie Pool. The next step is a commitment of funds in the budget to see that the works needed are forth coming. I suspect the Bureaucrats will still try and sell-off the Carnegie Pool when the time comes. Not until the Carnegie pool is in first class order will the community be able to relax.

  2. Wow, what an earthshattering amendment. With this kind of resolution I'm sure that the community can now rest assured that Carnegie pool is here to stay for at least the next 25 years or so. A few hundred thousand dollars will see to that! As always, a clayton's resolution which does absolutely nothing for the longevity of this site.
