EWASTE Collection day update

The collection day held last Sunday at the Town Hall was another resounding success.

Over 1300 cars delivered importantly approx 50 tonnes! of ewaste that will be almost fully recycled.

A great turnout

  1. DID YOU SAY 1300 CARS, THAT,S AMAZING, OUR STREETS WILL BENEFIT FROM THIS CLEARANCE, NOT TO MENTION THE OTHER SAVINGS IN RECYCLING OLD ELECTRONIC JUNK. WELL DONE EVERYONE WHO TOOK THE EFFORT TO DROP GEAR OFF.

  2. Yes, it worked well Neil. There were dozens of people there when I dropped off my stuff. Great to see the community respond to this. Shows that there is potential for council to do much more. I had been holding on to my old computer and electronic gear for some months waiting for the opportunity to dispose of it responsibly.

It also suggests that having a special day for disposal works much better than having an on-call service. Council really should consider re-introdicing regular hard rubbish days. They are much more effective than the current system.
